R. Roger Rowe Elementary and Middle School – Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego, California
Our firm designed landscape and site improvements for a completely new and remodeled 12+ acre elementary and middle school campus in the heart of Rancho Santa Fe, designed in the style of Architect Lillian Rice. Work includes many interesting site features and elements, such as amphitheater-like gathering spaces, 2 fountains, interpretive exhibits, play areas, enhanced paving and extensive Mediterranean landscape.
One of the exhibits is The Entire History of the Universe. A graphic delineation, using a reverse logarithmic scale, for all time; from the Big Bang until the present day. Significant events throughout time (in every endeavor of study; science, history, culture, religion) are “marked”, along the longest axis of the school.
Immediately following the opening of the school, the sports field improvements were begun in earnest. This required extensive grading and perimeter landscape screening.
